How to understand the current
World Corona Virus Pandemic, from a Krishna Conscious perspective.
by Visvakarma Dasa
Senior Disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Surviving the present global pandemic is the current order of business for residents of this planet. This planet is known as the planet of death and it is only one of millions of planets, in this material creation of Lord Krishna.
Prabhupada used the example of a rich man in many of his lectures. A rich man he would say, can solve his $25 and $50 dollar problems because he has $100 dollars.
Similarly, man can solve the problems of life through his development of Krishna consciousness. A non Krishna conscious life means, there won’t be any solution to the miseries of our material life, which are seven fold and will be listed later in this article. Krishna consciousness provides devotee’s with a universal perspective to life’s problems, residents of the spiritual world do not experience anxiety.
The Sanskrit word for these planets is Vaikuntha. Devotees that practise the process of Krishna Consciousness, under the guidance of other devotees, can learn how to reproduce this Vaikuntha atmosphere, in their daily lives, here on earth. This is called the science of self-realization, and is the true purpose of life.
Srila Prabhupada, our teacher of this process of bhakti yoga, has taught us through his personal example, that learning about him and his mission is one of the goals of any aspiring disciple. One must be a disciple in the order of disciplic succession, to make any true advancement within this lifetime.
This wonderful mission, the mission of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, is to propagate the chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra. It is the recommended process for self-realization and God-realization in this age of Kali, also known as the age of quarrel and hypocrisy, where people argue and fight over trifles. It is truly a dangerous time in history, as the toll of this pandemic is felt throughout human society. Prabhupada would tell us, you have to judge all actions by their results and here is the result of the current systems in operation, to sustain a vikarmic society.
There are three kinds of karma as explained to us by Srila Prabhuapda. Karma, action that produces a good or bad material result. Vikarma, an action that is prohibited by the laws of karma and produces very bad karmic reactions as the result. The operation of global slaughterhouses carries a heavy karmic debt on human society. It sustains this degraded human lifestyle. China is the worst country in the world for their deplorable behavior towards the animal kingdom.heir Vikarma is now spreading throughout the world as a result of their sub-human eating habits. This type of behavior is described in the Vedas as sub-human. Remember we must judge someone’s actions by their result.
This material world is called Kuntha, which means anxiety. People in the modern world are already filled with anxiety and this pandemic has added to this stress. People who are unemployed have no idea what to do with themselves. Some of my facebook friends spend their days drinking alcohol and watching TV. The world as we knew it has disappeared, overnight, over the fear of death from contracting the coronavirus. Why is there so much suffering you might ask, if God is considered all good?
John Nordheimer, of the New York Times, interviewed Srila Prabhupada in New Vrindaban, a community In West Virginia on September 2, 1972. Prabhupada’s answers to his questions will shed some understanding on how to see ourselves in this moment of historic time.
John Nordheimer asked Prabhupada, “It’s been thirty-five years since you were given this mission by your spiritual master to bring the word of Krishna to the West. A lot has happened in the world over that period of time. The world has…”
Prabhupada then interjects.
“That is nothing. That period of time is relative. As human beings, we live for some time – say for a hundred years – but there are demigods who can live for millions of years. And an ant will live for only a few hours. So this is relative. But time is eternal, and what is happening in so-called human history has no consideration from the viewpoint of eternal time. That is all relative. If there is some catastrophe in ant society, the ants may be very much concerned, but human society does not take any notice of it.
Similarly, if a catastrophe occurs in human society, the demigods, who are higher than us, do not consider it. Some birds or cats or dogs may be fighting, and for them it may be a catastrophe, but for us it is nothing.
This is the relative world, and we should know that what has happened in this world is not worthy of consideration in terms of universal affairs. Things are coming and going like seasonal changes. Arjuna put this question to Krsna: “This is a catastrophe! I have to kill my own men.” Although Arjuna believed this to be a catastrophe, Krsna likened it to seasonal changes. mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya ītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ [Bg 2.14]: “O son of Kunti, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress and their disappearance in due course are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons.”
In the winter season water is not very pleasant, but in the summer it is very pleasing. What, then, is the condition of water? Is it pleasing or not? The water is the same, but in touch with our skin it becomes pleasing or not according to the climatic circumstances. Just because the summer is hot, should I give up cooking? Work must be done. Similarly, just because water is cold in the winter, should I give up my bath?
No. These things may come and go, but we have to do our duty. Our duty is Krsna consciousness. That is our philosophy, and that is an actual fact. These seasonal changes may come and go in life – sometimes they may please us, and sometimes they may pinch us – but our duty in human life is to understand God.
We shouldn’t care for all these catastrophes that come and go. We should have no concern, for their nature is like that – sometimes pleasing and sometimes not pleasing. Despite all this, we have to do our duty, understand God.”
Srila Prabhupada teaches us that this is the prison house of the material world. Some of us are first class, some second class and some third class prisoners. Decide what kind of prisoner you are, he tells us.
People who become devotees of Krishna are guaranteed liberation from this miserable cycle of birth and death, called samsara.
As humans, we all have one thing in common, we are all prisoners here in the material world, regardless of religion, race, colour or creed.
During this current global pandemic lockdown, the world as we have come to know it is over. We will now look at the history of the world in three eras:
1. The Pre Pandemic Era.
The era that destroyed mother earth through total abuse because of greed. This misuse of mother nature, and all of her wonderful God given assets she has provided us are still being sinfully abused. The plastic world of material sense gratification has melted.
2. The Current Pandemic Era.
3. The Post Pandemic Era
It’s all about cause and effect. The modern world is built on violence, driven by false ego and greed. These qualities destroy human decency. Mother Nature is reacting back. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Atheism is rampant. God is dead and the churches are closing due to falling attendance. The corrupt world governments and the capitalist system of wealth through the paper banking systems are about to fail. There are no more jobs in a variety of fields. No more trips to Las Vegas and Disney World.
The warnings arethere on the wall of the Absolute Truth, but no one believed this could happen and happen so quickly. Anyone can die from it and according to government sources, here in Ontario, there are no guarantees that we won’t catch this virus.
Some people spend their time speculating on how it started. Some people think it’s a hoax. Many people are starting to fall apart mentally. Their fake Hollywood life has disappeared and they are completely wasting their time, thinking this whole lockdown is an extended spring break. This is called maya or illusion. The word maya means that which is not real.
An example is given by Srila Prabhupada of an oasis in the desert. A person is stranded in the desert with no waterand in that dehydrated state they become delusional. They imagine seeing a forested pond of water called an oasis. They rush to drink the water but when they arrive at the oasis, it is sadly just imaginary sand. This is the mistake of modern society and the people that created it.
We had earlier mentioned there are seven fold miseries that affect conditioned souls, they are as follows:
1. Birth
2. Death
3. Disease
4. Old age
5. The miseries caused by one’s own body and mind
6. The miseries caused by other living entities
7. The miseries caused by the material nature related to natural disasters and pandemics.
This planet as we have already mentioned, is known as the planet of death. With this current crisis, death is knocking on everyone’s door. The reaper has returned and the government can’t save us. Only Krishna can.
Innocent people need answers. What should I do? Krishna recommends we chant the Holy names of God. Lord Chaitanya requests us to chant the Holy Names of God and exonerate the bad karma we have committ within this lifetime and previous lifetimes People are ordered by God Himself to chant Hare Krishna for self-realization and Prabhupada allowed us a minimum of 16 rounds of japa and daily Kirtan to remain in good spiritual standing as his disciple.
What follows is a transcription of part of a lecture in which Prabhupada is talking about quarantine. As we know, anyone returning home from abroad has to be in quarantine according to a strict government lock down.
I don’t know the context, place or date of these comments below given by my Guru Srila Prabhupada, but it is completely relevant to our current lock down situation to prevent the spread of the virus.. Prabhupada explains from the vedic point of view, the reson why we are suffering this current karmic crisis of global fear.
Srila Prabhupada speaks, “What is called that?
Quarantine. Quarantine.
You are suffering. How can you violate nature’s law? It is not possible?
Nature’s law is so strict; a little deviation will put you into suffering. This is going on. That is Yamaraja.
And if you violate more and more and more than you’ll suffer more and more and more. This is the law. You cannot escape.
That is the general law, everywhere. All over the world, life for life. Similarly, in the God’s law, there is no such thing that, ah, if you kill a human being you will be killed and if you kill an animal you will not be killed. That is imperfect laws, man made laws. You are maintaining so many slaughter house and when it will be mature there will be war, the wholesale murder, finished (indistinct), finished. You’ll have to suffer.
Don’t think that innocent animals cannot protest, let us kill and eat. No, you’ll also be punished. Wherefore accumulation of your sinful activities, why do you think there is no punishment, there is not God?
This is utopian. Don’t think like that. Utopian. There is God, there is his government, there are his agents, there are witnesses. And otherwise why there are different varieties of life. Different varieties of life. Why? 8,4000,000 species of life.
Everyone is a living being. The trees are living beings, the fishes are living beings, the ants are living beings, the mosquitos are living beings, and the human beings are living beings, the demigod also living being, the cats, dogs, everyone is living being. So we should be very careful.
This human form of life is a chance to make your choice whether you’ll go on being punished like this or go back to home back to Godhead. You can imagine there is no God, no Yamaraja, no punishment. That is your fancy. But it is not a fact. The fact is that if we commit some sin we must suffer from it and there is nobody in the world who can check it.”
The modern governments of the world have no real solutions to the problems of this modern pandemic era. On the news channels, the political leaders are promising medical supplies to save your life.
This is the beginning of a new post-pandemic era, in which this current Godless society, will come to its senses and develop the desire to learn how to become God conscious. Our modern day illusory life has disappeared and we are beginning a new era of opportunity, which is to make this world a better place to live for our future generations, based on God conscious principles.”
Srila Prabhupada was an expert preacher, cutting out the cancer of maya in the minds of modern day conditioned souls.
An advanced devotee can bring others to Krishna consciousness. Srila Prabhupada was that expert public speaker. Srila Prabhupada was a tactful logician.
Srila Prabhupada spoke the following to guide us in our current day struggles.
“There is a proverb in Sanskrit that says you speak truth but don’t speak unpalatable truth. When you speak the truth it must be very palatable. So this social convention is not applicable to a person who is preaching the Absolute Truth. Absolute Truth is not dependent on material pleasure or unpleasure”.
Letter to Rupanuga — Seattle 15 October, 1968
“The world situation is that you can speak the truth if it is palatable. And if it is unpalatable, don’t speak. But this thing cannot be maintained when you are preaching spiritual life. There we cannot cheat. Spiritual life must be declared very frankly. Not that we have to declare; it is already declared.”
Room Conversation — January 3, 1977, Bombay
“They want if you can say the truth, but don’t say the unpalatable truth. But that is social etiquette. When you speak about spiritual life there is no such scope. You must speak this truth: “Yes, you are a rascal. Because you are not Krsna conscious, you are rascal, mudah. You are sinful. You are lowest of the mankind Krsna says” Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.9.10 — February 17, 1976, Mayapur
“You tell the truth, but it must be very palatable. If you say truth unpalatable, then you will create enemies. But how can I do so in the spiritual knowledge? There is a proverb that “If you go to a prostitute, go in the morning. [laughter] Not at night.” [laughs] In the morning you will see her real beauty.”
Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.1.22–25 — December 13, 1970, Indore
“Truth may be palatable or unpleasant — that does not matter. Everything is palatable to somebody, unpalatable to others — “One man’s food, another man’s poison.” That does not matter. But the thing should be presented as it is. That is required. There is no hide-and-seek policy. Caitanya Mahaprabhu especially was very much against untruthfulness.”
Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.9.10 — March 11, 1969, Hawaii
“So people may not like it. It may be very unpalatable. But the fact is like that. It is a social convention that if you want to speak truth, you speak truth very palatable, flattering. Don’t speak unpalatable truth. But we are not meant for that purpose, social convention. We are preachers. We are servants of God. We must speak the real truth. You may like it or may not like it, that a Godless civilization cannot be happy in any stage. That is a fact.”
Why people suffer karma due to sinful activities to Mother Earth and its residents!
Prabhupada : A man suffering from certain disease or certain miserable condition, they want to ameliorate[To make better] it.
This kind of sympathy is not sanctioned. He should suffer so that the reaction of his sinful activities in the past life should be diminished.
If he does not suffer, then he will have to suffer more, continue, because he is condemned to suffer so much. If you minimize it now, that does not mean he will not suffer. He will suffer next life.
Karma means the law of cause and effect. People that commit serious sins must be punished through the laws of karma. As ye sow so shall ye reap. This is how Christianity explains karma.
Destruction of the earth. Abortion! Animal slaughter is all supported by governments for economic reasons.
Wars are constant on so many fronts based on greed and lust.
The only way to eliminate bad karma is the chanting of the holy names of God Hare Krishna!
The process does work so don’t waste valuable time speculating on the destruction of the modern world and prepare for death.
Many people in these troubled times focus on the news which in some cases is fake news. Our focus should be on the process of Bhakti yoga which does not include a focus on the news.
Prabhupada was interested in current affairs, but not focused like some people are. This is not the correct focus when a disciple is preparing for death, which can happen at any moment and Prabhupada described politely as an occurrence.
Srila Prabhupada said, “We are Vaishnava devotees, not politicians. So these things must be stopped, plotting. Your merit stands far above theirs, you have done some tangible work to please me by spreading this Krishna Consciousness message in New Orleans, that is the test. Let them do something first, then we shall see what is their criticism.
Simply criticizing and no work, that is the business of inferior men.
So do not be disturbed by them, go on with your work, increasing more and more.
Never mind the jackals howl.”
Srila Prabhupada Letter to: Nityananda — Bombay 25 November, 1972
This should be the standard by which we conduct our devotional service. Do something to spread the mission of Lord Chaitanya following in the footsteps of Srila Prabhupada.
There are different degrees of surrender to the mission of Lord Chaitanya but the goal is the same. To spread the glories of the holy name especially Japa and Kirtan.
Based on my experience with fellow godbrothers Gaudiya Prabhu and Visnuttava prabhu and their recent deaths. They were chanting their rounds daily for many years prior to their demise
Based on accounts given by those close to them in their final moments, they were both prepared.
Both were closely connected to their japa beads with an optimistic look into their future with Krishna.
This is the process we proudly teach to others under the direction of my guru Srila Prabhupada. This knowledge is the medicine for the suffering minds of the modern day society.
A Godless civilization is destined to suffer the reactions to their sinful actions. This is a law of the universe known as cause and effect. Karma is real and people worldwide have to begin to realize the purpose of life is not mundane material sense gratification.
As devotees we enjoy chanting the names of God together, discussing my Gurus books and sharing spiritual food called prasadam offered to lord Jagannath.
Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He is counted among the greatest devotees of Lord Sri Krishna and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Srila Prabhupad passed away from this temporary world in November 1977 in Vrindavan India, the home of Lord Sri Krishna. He lives on in his Vani Incarnation. Vani means sound. Srila Prabhupada is credited with translating and commenting on over 80 volumes of transcendental literature including the world famous Indian spiritual classic the Bhagavad Gita As it is and the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature, the Srimad-Bhagavatam.
He is regarded as the world’s greatest prominent contemporary authority on Bhakti-yoga in the authentic disciplic succession from Lord Chaitanya the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Srila Prabhupada was born into a family of devout Vaishnavas in Bengal India. He developed a deep devotion towards Lord Krishna at an early young age through the guidance of his Mother and Father.
So strong was his love for Lord Jagannatha that at the age of five, he single-handedly organized a neighborhood Ratha-yatra festival to glorify Lord Jagannatha! Even while growing up, he was more interested in visiting temples than in playing with other children. He realized the true purpose of his life at the age of 26 when he first met his eternal spiritual master Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura.
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura instructed him to go to the West to spread Krishna Consciousness in the English language at his first meeting. Srila Prabhupada never forgot that instruction.
It would be several years before he could finally travel to the West in 1965 with no money, he finally carriedout the order of his Guru, with full faith and determination, in Krishna and Lord Chaitanya.
Once he had arrived in the United States, after a very arduous journey, there was no looking back. Krishna took charge and Srila Prabhupada successfully carried out the mission he had been ordered to execute from his guru. This is the perfection of a bona fide disciple. Prabhupada followed in the footprints of his Guru Maharaja. This is the inner secret of Bhakti yoga.
After founding and leading the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in New York City in 1966, until his demise in 1977, he instructed his disciples old and new, to follow the process of Bhakti on a daily basis and serve the preaching mission of Lord Chaitanya. He revealed this to us through his perfect spiritual example, which he diligently practised on a daily basis, while he was personally with us.
The essence of our philosophy, is to become an active member of the skp (San Kirtan Party) movement, in which Srila Prabhupada has given us, the responsibility to continue. He said that we could show our love for him, by cooperating together in an enthusiastic and selfless manner, to propagate the mission of Lord Chaitanya.
This painting of Lord Chaitanya was done between 1512 and 1533 a.d. during the life-time of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, by order of Mr. Raja Pratapa Rudra of Jagannath Puri, a transcendental holy place of pilgrimage, in the state of Orissa on the east coast of mother India.
The painting is said to have been carried to the province of Nadia by Srinivasa Acarya one of the members of Lord ChaitanyaPanca Tattva. Lord Chaitanya descends from the spiritual sky with his entourage, in this case, his five principle followers.
The followers of the Sankirtan movement of Lord Chaitanya, always chant prayers to the five principle members of this great mission.
As taught to us by Srila Prabhupada we chant Sri Krishna Chaitanya, Prabhu Nityananda, Sri Advaita, Gadadhara, Srivasadi-Gaura-Bhakta Vrnda.
From the descendants of Prataparudra Prabhu the painting passed to the family of Raja Nanda Kumar of East India Company fame, and by them this painting is preserved at their country-seat of Kunjaghata near Murshidabad India.
The key figures in this spectacular masterpiece are as follows:
1) Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu the most recent incarnation of God seen directly below the tree
2). Sri Nityananda Prabhu, his brother on his right and the head of his Sankirtan movement which we are currently working for. Sankirtan means the propagation of the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra as the recommended method for self realization in the Iron Age of quarrel and hypocrisy.
3) Bhagavata Acharya
4) Raja Pratapa Rudra, was the financial patron of the artist who painted this wonderful masterpiece, in the attitude of pure devotion. The peacock in line with the Raja in this painting is perhaps heraldic, to show his rank in that time in human history.
Why is this painting considered a masterpiece? The content of this painting is a window to the eternal pastimes of the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna appearing as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu!
People that live in the mode of ignorance will not be able to understand the significance and true meaning of this amazing piece of history captured on canvas in oil. The world is in a current state of shock as a result of the CoronaVirus. The economic fallout from the shut down of the economic machine providing life to the people of the earth, is disappearing by the day. Life’s freedom to act, has been stripped from everyone and we are all now under strict orders from our current governments.
All the government offices, the court house etc. are barely open. The world as we knew in our generation is over. It appears a complete economic meltdown is on the horizon here in North America. Millions of people will live shorter lives.
Srila Prabhupada tells this story to help us understand the real purpose of human life. “One poor man was begging on the street, and Lord Śiva and Pārvatī were passing as ordinary men. So Pārvatī requested Lord Śiva that this poor man, he’s asking, he’s begging, so requested him, “Why don’t you give him something?” And Lord Śiva replied, “Even if I give, he’ll not be able to enjoy it. He’s so unfortunate.” “Oh, that we shall see. Why don’t you give?” So Lord Śiva, in a watermelon, gave him, say, one thousand dollars. “You take this watermelon.” So he thanked him, and after that he thought, “What shall I do with this watermelon?” So another man came, “Sir, if you take this watermelon and give me one anna.” So he gave one anna and he took the watermelon. Because he had no good fortune to take that money within the watermelon.
Our fortune is like that. Kṛṣṇa is giving us the final benefit, but we are not taking care of it. This is our misfortune. That chance is there. You can take the watermelon and cut it, but before that, if you give it to somebody else, that is your misfortune.
Misfortune is your creation. Man is the architect of his own fortune. So you can create your fortune and misfortune. That is the world, going on. So many people, they are working, somebody is creating fortune, somebody is creating misfortune.”
Prabhupada was a true genius.
As we mentioned the Laws of Karma are threefold:
- Karma – Mundane activity that produces either or good or bad results.
- Vikarma – Sinful activity, like animal eating, which creates hell on earth
- Akarma – Activity in Krishna Consciousness which means service to the mission of Lord Chaitanya which is transcendental service with no material reaction. Simply put, actions that produce no material result in the form of good or bad karma.
In terms of one’s own personal karma that must be dealt with at the time of death of the individual. Death is for certain. Krishna tells Arjuna in the Bhagavad-Gita: “For one who is born, death is certain; and for one who has died birth is certain”. This is called samara, or the cycle of birth and death.
This current pandemic crisis is a result of global vikarmic activity as we have mentioned many times. They say the current epidemic was caused by humans eating food from exotic wet markets in China. This is sub-human behavior. The Chinese government are currently forbidding Chinese people to eat cats and dogs, and to close their horrific wet markets.
The operation of demoniac slaughterhouses by Chistians, Muslims, Jews and Atheists has brought the karmic wrath of Mother Nature down upon its inhabitants.
Here is a Summary Explanation of Chanting Hare Krishna as the recommended process for self-realization and God-realization for people living in the current Kali Yuga, suffering through this pandemic and all its uncertainties.
The chanting of Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, is directly enacted from the spiritual platform, surpassing all lower states of mundane consciousness — namely sensual, mental and intellectual.
The names of Krishna, Hare and Rama, are transcendental names of God, the Supreme Person. When the names are chanted, the sound incarnation of God is present. The unique nature of transcendental sound is it’s non- duality related to form and sound.
How can we understand God being omnipresent? The name and form of an object in the material world are not the same, that is called dual. You may call for water by name, but unless you have an actual cup of real water, your thirst will not be satisfied.
The name and form of God are of the same, non-dual quality. This is one way to experience His Omnipresence. God literally incarnates in the form of His Holy Name, to dance on the tip of the tongue of his devotees, who offencelessly chant.
There are 10 offences to be avoided, when chanting Hare Krishna, in order to obtain the maximum benefit, from this practice.
- To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives to propagating the holy name of the Lord.
- To consider the names of demigods like Lord Shiva or Lord Brahma to be equal to, or independent of the name of the Lord Vishnu.
- To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.
- To blaspheme the vedic scriptures, or scriptures in pursuance to the vedic version.
- To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krishna to be an imagination.
- To give some interpretations to the Holy Name of the Lord.
- To commit sinful activities on the strength of the Holy Name.
- To consider the chanting of Hare Krishna, as one of the auspicious ritualistic activities which are offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (Karma-kanda).
- To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the Holy Name
10. To not have complete faith in the chanting of the Holy Name and to not maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter.
It is also an offense to be inattentive while chanting.
Every devotee who claims to be a Vaishnava, a servant of Krishna, must guard against these offenses in order to quickly achieve the desired success, KRISHNA PREMA, love of God.
It is recommended we chant 16 rounds of japa on beads everyday.
108 beads x 16 holy names x 16 rounds on your japa beads = 27,648 names of God chanted each day. This is the main habit of a truly successful person.
There is no need to understand the language of this Maha Mantra, nor is there any need of mental speculation or any intellectual adjustment for your chanting. This transcendental antra springs automatically from the spiritual platform, and anyone can chant this transcendental sound vibration, without any previous qualifications and dance in ecstasy upon chanting along. A child, or even a dog can take part in it. This is a non-sectarian process for self-realization. There are no restrictions for people to chant the Hare Krishna Mantra based on religion, race, colour or creed. Everyone of us spiritually, are equal parts and parcels of the Supreme Lord.
He is the chief eternal being amongst all eternal beings. It is the constitutional position of the living entity to glorify God and especially through the singing of His Holy Names. This is considered to be the most effective process to spiritual enlightenment as taught by Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Yuga Avatara.
This chanting should be heard only from the lips of pure devotees of the Lord, like A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, so that the immediate effect and benefit for the sincere seeker can be achieved. As far as possible, hearing the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mantra from the lips of non-devotees or imposters, imitating as devotees, should be avoided, as much as milk touched by the lips of a serpent causes a poisonous effect.
Both Krishna and Rama are names of God. The name Krishna means the All Attractive Person and the name Rama, the Source Of All Strength. Hare, means the supreme pleasure potency of the Lord. This potency of Hare, when addressed, helps us in reaching the Supreme Lord by her appealing to Him for us. Our prayer should be to join the mission of Lord Chaitanya, which Srila Prabhupada has blessed us with.
In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy, this is the most potent method of yoga practice for gaining God’s personal attention, the Lord within YOUR heart. He’s personally listening and taking notice of our sincere efforts to purify ourselves through this simple process of singing this Mantra.
The Material world and the pursuit of sense gratification is called Maya, or illusion and is also one of the multi-potencies of the Lord.
There are three energies in the material world; external energy, internal energy and marginal energy.
1.External energy is the manifested material world before us.
2.Internal energy is the spiritual world.
3.Marginal energy is the human-being, operating in a marginal capacity, choosing between service to the external energy for sense gratification or service to Lord Chaitanya in the SKP movement, which is the eternal transcendent internal energy.
When the marginal energy, the living entity, is in contact with God through the hearing and chanting of God’s names, we become spiritually blissful, transcending us out of the seven fold miseries of material life.
The seven fold miseries again, are as follows: birth, death, disease, old age, the miseries of one’s own body and mind, the trouble from other species like humans, animals, bugs, insects as well as other entities, plus the miseries from mother nature.
As we have already mentioned, these three names of God, Hare, Krishna and Rama, are the transcendental seeds of the Maha-Mantra. This chant is called the Great Chant For Deliverance.
The chanting is exactly like a child’s genuine cry for their mother. Our Transcendental Mother, Radha (Hare), helps us in achieving the grace of our Supreme Father Krishna. Thus, Krishna reveals Himself to such a sincere devotee who chants Hare Krishna everyday as part of their daily routine. This is the secret behind the successful implementation of this process.
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. The chanting of the holy names of Hare, Krishna and Rama are featured on our track, ‘Hare Krishna Jamaica’. Once again, this is recommended, as the most effective method for self-realization and God-realization, in this present day of quarrel and hypocrisy by Lord Chaitanya and the Yuga Avatara of Kali Yuga. The transcendentally purifying benefits of the Holy Name being chanted are equally shared between both the chanter and the listener.
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is the most recent incarnation of Krishna, God. He appeared 500 years ago in Benga,l in the form of Krishna’s devotee and in the mood of Srimati Radharani, his eternal consort. He left only 8 slokas (verses) of his instructions in writing. For a devotee making spiritual progress, the slokas describe the glories of the Holy Names of the Lord and the mood they must adopt to chant.
- Glory to the Sri-Krsna-Sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.
- O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names, like Krsna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.
- One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.
- O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I desire beautiful women nor do I want any number of followers. I only want Your causeless devotional service, birth after birth.
- O son of Maharaja Nanda (Krsna), I am Your eternal servitor, yet somehow or other I have fallen into the ocean of birth and death. Please pick me up from this ocean of death and place me as one of the atoms at Your lotus feet.
- O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love flowing constantly when I chant Your holy name? When will my voice choke up, and when will the hairs of my body stand on end at the recitation of Your name?
- O Govinda! Feeling Your separations I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.
- I know no one but Krsna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even if He handles me roughly by His embrace or makes me brokenhearted by not being present before me. He is completely free to do anything and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord, unconditionally.

The chanting of Hare Krishna mantra that is featured in this video is the essence of yoga practise in this age of quarrel and hypocrisy. People quarrel over trifles This is self evident when we follow the news. It’s a mad, mad, world.
This chanting is authorized by disciplic succession from Lord Chaitanya Maha Prabhu through my spiritual master A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami.
It was his order to me to help him spread the benefits of the chanting of Hare Krishna to as many people as possible. That’s the actual motive behind the history of making this track.
The making of this track showed me how Krishna is working in my life by bringing forward such a wonderful group of musicians and artists to serve my eternal guru Srila Prabhupada by the production of this wonderful release.
The artists from Jamaica on this track, under the direction of Kardi Tivali my partner that performed in this project, are a wonderful reflection of the excellent musicians that live on the island. Kardi is extremely hardworking and naturally gifted from Krishna to create world class music in this very difficult industry.
Please chant along. It will benefit you and anyone that hears it with you on a daily basis spiritually.
The proof of the pudding is in the tasting similarly if you hear the holy names on a daily basis, your life will move forward in the right direction, that is Krishna’s guarantee.Music video by Kardi Tivali and Bobby Hebert performing Hare Krishna Jamaica (Official Audio). ℗ 2019 Maddanize.
